If you are planning to visit the Club, please be sure to review the Dress Code and follow the other relevant Club Rules listed below.
Dress Code
Day-time (from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm)
Members’ Lounge, Main Grill, Ladies’ Grill, Aviary, Masud Karim Room, Banquet Hall, Ishaat Habibullah Room, Amir Chinoy Room and the Verandah upstairs
Smart Casual unless specified otherwise. Polo shirts with collars worn tucked into trousers, Bush shirts as defined in the Dress Code, and the National dress without a Waistcoat are permitted. Casual attire permitted only for Sunday Brunch, however, Tee shirts with round collars are only permitted at Brunch for children under the age of 12.

Definition of Dress Type
Formal
Gentlemen should normally dress in a dinner jacket with a bow-tie, fully button fronted collared shirt tucked in to tailored trousers and formal shoes (with or without laces) with dark coloured socks. Gentlemen may replace the dinner jacket and bow-tie requirement with a dark coloured suit with a tie, keeping the rest of the attire the same, or they may wear the National dress with an Achkan or Sherwani but not a Waistcoat. Ladies should dress with the appropriate formality.
Lounge Suit (also referred to as Informal)
Gentlemen should dress in a dark coloured suit with a tie, fully button fronted collared shirt tucked in to suit trousers and evening shoes (with or without laces) with dark coloured socks. Gentlemen may wear the National dress with a dark coloured Waistcoat. Ladies should dress with the appropriate formality.
Smart Casual
Gentlemen should dress in a full sleeved collared shirt tucked in to tailored trousers made of any material other than denim and leather, and shoes (with or without laces) other than joggers, exercise shoes or work boots. Gentlemen may wear the National dress but with a Waistcoat unless specified otherwise. Gentlemen may also wear a full sleeved Turtle-neck top provided it is worn tucked in to trousers. Ladies should dress with the appropriate formality.
Casual
Gentlemen and ladies may dress in trousers or jeans made of any material, worn with a short sleeved, long sleeved or Chinese collared shirt, Polo shirt, Sports shirt, Bush shirt or Turtle-neck top. All tops may be worn outside trousers. Gentlemen may wear the National dress without a Waistcoat. Shoes may be of leather or fabric (with or without laces) but sandals must be worn with back straps.
Active Wear
Gentlemen and ladies may wear shorts, track suits, gym, athletic or sports attire, including Tee shirts with round collars, joggers, trainers, slippers and flip-flops.
Use of Mobile Phones and Electronic Devices
The following Policy for use of Electronic devices and Mobile phones inside the Club’s premises shall apply to all Members, their families and guests.
Members’ Lounge, Main Grill, Ladies’ Grill, Aviary, Masud Karim Room, Banquet Hall
No mobile phones or electronic devices may be used or displayed in any manner at all. This prohibition includes voice, audio, reading, writing, sending or viewing of emails, pictures, videos, texts, WhatsApp messages, etc. Members, their families and guests may not read or view anything on their mobile phones or any other electronic device at any time. Mobile phones which are too large to fit into a Jacket or trouser pocket may be left at the Main Reception.
Ishaat Habibullah Room (the I.H. Room)
When the I.H. Room is being used for any purpose other than a pre-booked business meeting, mobile phones may be used only for silent activity therefore excluding voice calls and all other audio activities. No other electronic devices may be used or displayed in any manner at all. During a pre-booked business meeting, Members, their families and guests are permitted to use mobile phones and other electronic devices provided that the sound emanating from the I.H. Room is not at a level that would cause a disturbance or offence to other members outside the I.H. Room.
Khalid Ali Khan Room (the K.A.K. Room)
When the K.A.K. Room is being used for any purpose other than a pre-booked business meeting, mobile phones may be used only for silent activity therefore excluding voice calls and all other audio activities. No other electronic devices may be used or displayed in any manner at all. During a pre-booked business meeting, Members, their families and guests are permitted to use mobile phones and other electronic devices provided that the sound emanating from the K.A.K. room is not at a level that would cause a disturbance or offence to other members outside the K.A.K. room.

Mobile phones and electronic devices may be used quietly and discreetly, excluding all audio activities, in a manner that does not cause a disturbance or offence to other Members present. Listening to music and watching videos with earphones is permitted. Mobile phones may be used only for silent activity therefore excluding voice calls.
Hammam
Mobile phones and electronic devices may be used quietly and discreetly, excluding all audio activities, in a manner that does not cause a disturbance or offence to other Members present. Listening to music and watching videos with earphones is permitted. Mobile phones may be used only for silent activity but with very selective permission for receiving urgent voice calls only at the Hammam Reception area.
Gymnasium
Mobile phones and electronic devices may be used quietly and discreetly, excluding all audio activities, in a manner that does not cause a disturbance or offence to other Members present. Listening to music and watching videos with earphones is permitted. Mobile phones may be used only for silent activity but with very selective permission for receiving urgent voice calls only at the Gymnasium Reception area.
Main Reception area, Chabutra, Amir Chinoy Room, the Verandah upstairs, Billiards Room, Le Bistro, Pool area, general Grounds and Gardens
Unrestricted use of electronic devices and mobile phones at all times provided that such usage does not cause a disturbance or offence to other members in close proximity.
General Guidelines
The following rules and guidelines must be observed:
  • Members, their families and guests are expected to always dress in a dignified manner consistent with the character and standing of the Sind Club, and sensitive to the culture and norms of the society we live in.

  • Club staff is required to enforce the Dress Code as may be determined by the Managing Committee from time to time. In the event that a Member or a member of his family is approached by a member of the Club staff, they must respond with politeness and in a manner befitting a Member of the Sind Club.

  • Club staff is required to inform the Member hosting guests in the event of any infringement of any Rule or the Dress Code by a guest. It is the Member’s responsibility to ensure that his guests abide by the Rules and the Dress Code.

  • Whenever the National dress is worn it must be clean, well-ironed and un-crumpled.

  • Jeans whenever permitted must be smart and clean and not be faded or torn from any place. All trousers which are cut and stitched in a manner resembling denim jeans with or without rivets or with double stitching on the outside seams will constitute Jeans.

  • Ladies should dress as the occasion requires. On formal or informal occasions, ladies should wear appropriate formal clothing. On other occasions, ladies may wear the National dress or skirts, dresses, tailored trousers, jeans, etc. with a smart top or shirt in accordance with the Dress Code.

  • All shoes must be clean and polished. Sandals should generally only be worn with the National dress and must have, and be worn with, a back strap.

  • Flip flops and slippers are only allowed in the Pool area, Hammam, Le Bistro, general Grounds and Gardens of the Club.

  • Gentlemen must always wear socks unless dressed in Casual or Active Wear attire or wearing sandals with back straps or it is specified otherwise.

  • Bush shirts must be straight cut at the bottom preferably with vents, may not have tails and must be designed to be worn over trousers.

  • Shorts may only be worn in Le Bistro, the Pool area, Gymnasium, Hammam, general Grounds and Gardens of the Club and for sports as needed. Shorts are also allowed when accessing the Reception desk for very limited periods of time. They may be of any fabric however they must be no shorter than two inches above the knee and must not have cut-off edges.

  • When playing sports, Members and their families must wear clothing which is suited to and/or required for the particular sport being played.

  • When using the gymnasium, Members, their families and female guests must wear acceptable gym attire suitable for gym usage.

  • When using the Hamman, Members must wear trunks suitable for usage in the Hammam.

  • When swimming, Members, their families and female guests must wear acceptable swimming attire. Gentlemen and boys should normally wear swimming trunks, speedos or jammers. They may wear a full or half-length body suit. Ladies and girls may wear bathing suits, or a full or half-length body suit if they so choose.

  • Children over the age of 12 are required to adhere to the Dress Code. Children under the age of 12 must be respectably attired in a manner befitting the standards of the Sind Club.
Prohibited items
  • It is strictly prohibited to enter the Pool wearing loose clothing of any nature, Tee shirts or other clothing resembling Tee shirts or track suit-type bottoms.

  • There may not be any impolite or inappropriate words or remarks, slogans or slang on any form of clothing worn anywhere inside the Club’s premises.

  • Clothing may not be torn, untidy, dirty, un-ironed or unkempt.

  • Gentlemen may not wear sleeveless tops except in the gymnasium.

  • Gentlemen should not wear obvious or excessive jewellery.

  • No briefcases, business papers or other business accessories may be brought into the Members’ Lounge, Main Grill, Ladies’ Grill, Aviary, Billiards Room, Bridge Room, Main Bar, Masud Karim Room and the Banquet Hall at any time. All such items should be left at the Main Reception at the owner’s risk or in the Residential Chambers. Briefcases, business papers or other business accessories may be brought into the Ishaat Habibullah Room and the Khalid Ali Khan Room for a pre-booked business meeting or with prior permission.

  • No luggage, including hand luggage, may be brought into the Members’ Lounge, Main Grill, Ladies’ Grill, Aviary, Lobby, Library, Billiards Room, Main Bar, Le Bistro, Masud Karim Room, Banquet Hall, Ishaat Habibullah Room, the Khalid Ali Khan Room or in any public areas or rooms of the Club at any time. All luggage should be left at the Main Reception at the owner’s risk or in the Residential Chambers. Small hand luggage may be brought into the Business Centre.

  • No outerwear may be brought into the Members’ Lounge, Main Grill, Ladies’ Grill, Aviary, Lobby, Library, Billiards Room, Bridge Room, Main Bar, Masud Karim Room, Banquet Hall, Ishaat Habibullah Room and the Khalid Ali Khan Room at any time. All outerwear should be left at the Main Reception at the owner’s risk or in the Residential Chambers.

  • No work shoes, joggers, trainers, hiking boots or sandals without back straps are permitted in the Members’ Lounge, Main Grill, Ladies’ Grill, Aviary, Chabutra, Masud Karim Room, Banquet Hall, Ishaat Habibullah Room and the Khalid Ali Khan Room at any time.

  • Active Wear items are not permitted in any part of the Club except in Le Bistro, Pool & Gym area, Hammam, general Grounds and Gardens and for accessing the Main Reception area for very brief intervals.
